What's the story?
The famous band 'Killswitch Engage' seems to be in the works with a WWE project. It is reported that the band will be working on two new theme songs for WWE superstars in the coming time.
For those who didn't know...
Killswitch Engage is an American band that formed in 1999. Their latest album 'Incarnate' came out on 11 March, 2016.
Although extremely popular, the band came to prominence among wrestling fans after they recorded the song 'This Fire Burns' for the WWE album 'Reckless Intent' in 2006. This song was subsequently used by former WWE superstar CM Punk as his theme song initially, before his theme was changed to 'Cult of Personality' later on.
Interestingly, the band was initially supposed to record a cover for Living Color's popular song 'Cult of Personality' for Punk's theme but WWE instead just licensed the original track.
The heart of the matter
Recently, the bassist of the band – Mike D'Antonio – had an interview with John's Untitled podcast where he revealed that his band will be working on two new theme songs.
Here is an excerpt from his interview :
“We’re not actually not even supposed to talk about it, but we have two wrestling theme songs in the works right now. One I believe is finished… The first one is done and then the second one we’re gonna start recording in like two weeks.
One’s for one company and then the other is for WWE. The WWE one was really complicated because it was another thing where they sent us a song and said, ‘You need to cover this as best as possible or as close as possible’ and it’s not a good song.
So we had a tough time with it and a lot of the dudes were like ‘I don’t wanna do this.’ And I get it. I understand. If it’s a really crappy song, if we gotta put our name on it, we don’t want our fans thinking we wrote something terrible. So we got this song to where we’re comfortable and we’re gonna start recording it soon.”
What's next?
It is great to see that WWE is bringing Killswitch Engage on-board. Hopefully, this is just the beginning and we'll be hearing a lot more theme songs by this coveted band, bringing more variety to an already great WWE music library.

'This Fire Burns' was one of my favorite theme songs and it always managed to get the crowd excited. With WWE using a lot of variety for their theme songs, it will be great to see what Killswitch Engage will have in store for us.
