What's the story?

The Cruiserweight Tournament has taken over 205 Live over the past few weeks ever since Enzo Amore was released from WWE and his Championship was vacated. It seems that the final competitors for the rest of the tournament have been revealed by WWE and one of them will be a huge surprise.

In case you didn't know...

Enzo Amore was released from the WWE ahead of the Royal Rumble last month and the company has since brought former TNA star Rockstar Spud into the fold as the General Manager of 205 Live called Drake Maverick.

The tournament has already seen the likes of Tyler Bate and Roderick Strong brought up to the 205 Live brand with Welsh star Mark Andrews set to challenge Akira Tozawa in another first round match in the tournament.

It seems that Maverick has become the figurehead for the division right now and it has allowed him to bring in a number of stars from NXT and the UK Division in recent weeks. The latest rumour suggests that Lio Rush could be set to be called up to the brand in the coming weeks after a brief stint in NXT.

The heart of the matter

WWE has released a teaser ahead of tonight's 205 Live show which reveals the final three stars in the tournament, whilst also pointing out the fact that the final competitor in the tournament will be a complete surprise.

"Last week on WWE 205 Live, NXT Superstar Roderick Strong shocked the WWE Universe by entering the WWE Cruiserweight Championship Tournament and defeating Hideo Itami. The hard-hitting displayed the resilience, skill and determination that WWE 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick expects the Cruiserweights to channel when competing inside the squared circle. However, the appearance of Strong in the tournament understandably begs a question: Who else will enter?
Responding to a tweet from Gentleman Jack Gallagher Friday evening, Maverick seemingly confirmed that Gallagher, Mustafa Ali, Ariya Daivari and a surprise entrant would be the final four competitors in the first round of the WWE Cruiserweight Championship Tournament.
Although the WWE 205 Live GM's retweet of Gallagher was a question posed to the WWE Universe about the British Superstar's opponent, the prospect of a surprise entrant – especially after Strong's impressive performance last week – is certainly of note.
Will Maverick reveal the final four matches of the first round tonight?"

It is currently unknown as to who the surprise entrant could be but it is now known that Jack Gallagher, Mustafa Ali and Ariya Daivari will be the competitors fighting for the vacant Cruiserweight Championship. It will be an interesting few weeks for 205 Live especially since it was revealed last week that Triple H has taken over the rein of the show after Vince McMahon stepped down.

What's next?

The next four matches of the 205 Live Cruiserweight Tournament will be announced tonight as part of the show, but it is unknown as to whether or not the surprise entrant will be revealed as well.

Author's take

It's been an exciting few weeks for 205 Live and it seems that this tournament has definitely helped to boost the ratings for the division. Triple H taking over the division has only helped push them further forward and it could mean that the future is finally looking bright for the competitors of 205 Live.
