What's the story?

WWE Superstar Randy Orton took to social media to tease a match with former friend and foe, wrestler-turned-Hollywood star Dave Bautista, following the success of Batista's latest movie Avengers: Infinity War.

In case you didn’t know…

Orton and Batista are both former members of the heel faction Evolution and have also gone head-to-head in the ring several times. During his latest run with the company, Batista took on Orton and Daniel Bryan in the main event at WrestleMania 30.

Later that year, The Animal left the company citing creative differences and has since transformed successfully into a megastar in Hollywood with notable roles such as Marvel villain Drax the Destroyer. He revived his role as Drax in the latest iteration of Avengers in Infinity War.

The heart of the matter

The Viper took to his twitter handle to praise the Avengers movie, saying that the movie was just as good the second time around too. In the same tweet, he teased a possible WrestleMania main event with Batista in the future. Here is the tweet:

Batista has expressed interest in returning to WWE multiple times but has seemingly failed to reach any viable deal with the company. In fact, The Animal was speculated as one of the prospects for Ronda Rousey's tag team partner at WM this year, but in the end, Kurt Angle ended up teaming with the Rowdy One.

Recently, The Animal revealed that he had failed to even receive a reply, in spite of repeated attempts to contact WWE.

What's next?

A future return to WWE is definitely possible, as The Animal seems to have a cordial relationship with Vince McMahon and Triple H.

Author's take

While his last run in the company was not well received by the fans, it will be good to see Batista return to the company for another run.
