WWE News: Reason why Ronda Rousey missed Raw this week

Why wasn't Ronda Rousey on Raw this week?
Why wasn't Ronda Rousey on Raw this week?

What's the story?

Ronda Rousey wasn't part of Monday Night Raw this week for the first time since the build-up to her WrestleMania match began and it appears to be because the former UFC Champion is working on another project.

In case you didn't know...

It was revealed a few months ago that Rousey was going to be part of every Monday Night Raw taping moving forward since she signed a full-time deal with WWE. Even when Rousey doesn't appear as part of the show, she has been seen in the arena as part of the dark segments.

Rousey is currently in a feud with Mickie James after the former Women's Champion targetted her friend and trainer Natalya, but this feud was unable to move forward this week since Ronda was busy working on an outside project.

The heart of the matter

"The baddest woman on the planet" wasn't part of proceedings this week on Monday Night Raw since she was on location in Fiji filming as part of Shark Week which begins Sunday, July 22.

Rousey updated her Instagram a few days ago to show that she was part of filming for the show and WWE's Twitter account then acknowledged that Rousey was still on location when Raw tapings began tonight.

The women of WWE began to build towards the first ever Raw Women's Money in the Bank ladder match, but Rousey wasn't part of the show.

What's next?

It's thought that Rousey will continue her current feud when she returns next week since she is currently building towards her first singles match in WWE against Mickie James at Money in the Bank.

Author's take

Rousey had the chance to be part of an incredible adventure and her Instagram update shows that she is having fun in Fiji.

WWE didn't need her this week and her feud with Mickie will still be there when she returns, there isn't much more Rousey can really do in this feud without having a match so maybe it was the perfect time for her to take a break from WWE so she can now return afresh for the build-up to Money in the Bank next week.
