WWE News: Replacement named for JBL on Smackdown announce team

Ever since it was announced that longtime Smackdown announcer JBL would be leaving the position, speculation was abound as to who his replacement might be. Well, we can stop our wondering, because WWE made the announcement today.

As the tweet says, Raw announcer and the "Savior of Misbehavior" Corey Graves will be taking JBL's spot on Tuesday's like Smackdown broadcasts. What's interesting to note is that he won't be continuing on as a 205 Live announcer, despite the fact that it takes place right after Smackdown. He wouldn't even have to stand up.

On the other hand, that means more exposure for Nigel McGuinness, which is always a good thing.

This certainly raises the question as to whether Graves will be continuing on Raw as well, and voicing both shows, or if they find a replacement for him. While Graves has shown he's more than capable of doing double duty as an announcer, it would be a step backwards in WWE's attempt to having both Raw and Smackdown having their own identity.

Hopefully, some of these questions will be answered during tonight's Raw broadcast. In the meantime, congrats to Corey Graves on this new opportunity!

Update: Corey Graves announced through his Twitter account that he will still be a part of Raw's commentary team, as well as replace JBL on SmackDown.
