What's the story?
Luchador legend Rey Mysterio showed up at the Greatest Royal Rumble at the Number 28 spot and received one of the loudest ovations of the night. He had a strong showing during the event, lasting well over twenty minutes.
Much of the internet was buzzing with regard to his special ring gear that had something in Arabic written at the front. Mysterio cleared the air in a special interview posted by WWE.
In case you didn't know...
Rey Mysterio is considered one of the greatest Cruiserweights of all time, performing at the highest level for multiple promotions since the height of the Monday Night Wars. He shocked the world by returning to WWE during the Royal Rumble match earlier this year.
Mysterio has expressed his desire to mix it up with the current crop of WWE talent on several occasions. He's said in the past that he wishes to face superstars like AJ Styles and Finn Balor.
The heart of the matter
During the interview, Mysterio expressed his delight at being able to compete in both the Royal Rumble and the Greatest Royal Rumble. He also disclosed the significance of his ring gear:
I like to take it up a notch man. I like to pay respect to superheroes, people that have inspired me throughout my career and also like to pay tribute to the countries that I've been able to perform in.
And this is a little tribute to the Saudi Arabian fans for their support, for their loyalty...not just for Rey Mysterio but in general for the WWE Universe.

What's next?
It remains to be seen if Mysterio will stay on and perform on either the main roster of 205 Live. He did not seem to miss a beat during his performance at the Greatest Royal Rumble. 'He's still got it!'

Rey Mysterio is one of those performers who just seems to become better with age. I love watching him in action all the time.
