WWE News: Rey Mysterio reacts to Kalisto's Cruiserweight Championship win
The future WWE Hall of Famer gives props to Kalisto.
What's the story?
Kalisto captured the Cruiserweight Championship from Enzo Amore on the most recent episode of Monday Night Raw and dedicated his victory to the late Eddie Guerrero on what would've been the WWE Hall of Famer's fiftieth birthday.
Rey Mysterio subsequently took to Twitter to express his gratitude towards the King of Flight.
In case you didn't know...
Enzo Amore won the Cruiserweight Championship from Neville at No Mercy through nefarious means and turned heel in the process.
The New Jersey native's promo work and charisma provided a shot in the arm for 205 Live, and he even appeared to be poised for a long run as the heel centrepiece of the Cruiserweight Division. However, Kalisto unseated Amore on the October 09, 2017, episode of Monday Night Raw, seemingly putting those plans on the back-burner.
The heart of the matter
During a Raw Fallout interview, Kalisto dedicated his victory to the late Eddie Guerrero and promised to give the Cruiserweight Division more opportunities than his predecessor. “Now that Enzo’s not the champion, I can display the beautiful art that the cruiserweights have,” he added.
It is also interesting to note that this was the first Cruiserweight match to main event Raw.
Kalisto will defend the Cruiserweight Championship against Enzo Amore at WWE TLC 2017 on October 22, 2017. While the King of Flight's victory was a feel-good moment, he is unlikely to hold the title for a long time.
Kalisto winning the Cruiserweight Championship on what would've been Eddie Guerrero's fiftieth birthday was a nice gesture. However, the 30-year-old is still a stale character who is destined to drop the title in the not too distant future.
