What’s the story?

Veteran WWE superstar and former World Champion Rey Mysterio and his son Dominic Gutierrez are no strangers to the wrestling world and according to Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer, Dominic is now apparently one step closer to accomplishing his dream of becoming a professional wrestler and follow his father’s footsteps in the process.

In case you didn’t know…

The 20-year-old son of Rey Mysterio Jr., Dominic Gutierrez has previously been under intense training at the Battle U Pro Wrestling School in San Diego, where Mysterio’s entire family lives. Dominic, who has also played some college football, has been training under the guidance of his father, former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Rey Mysterio, who has been part of the Pro Wrestling business for almost over 28 years.

The heart of the matter

During the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, pro wrestling expert Dave Meltzer reported that Dominic Gutierrez is currently training under the guidance of veteran Pro Wrestler and former Ring of Honor World Champion Jay Lethal in Florida.

Lethal has also previously trained former WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee and is currently guiding Mysterio’s son Dominic, in his journey to become a professional wrestler and additionally, Meltzer also claimed that Jay Lethal as a coach is a great choice indeed. Dominic is also said to be doing very well currently under the guidance of Jay Lethal.

What’s next?

Dominic’s father Rey Mysterio kicked off his career in the big stage at a very early age and if Dominic turns out to be anything like his father then he could also be showing up on the big stages real soon.

Author’s Take

I believe that Dominic Gutierrez will kick-start his Pro Wrestling career in Mexico and will make it big in promotions like The Crash Lucha or even CMLL, however, much like his father, Dominic will eventually make it to the WWE someday in my opinion.
