What's the story?

Rich Swann was officially cleared of all of the charges that related to his domestic incident with his wife back in December and his lawyer has finally issued an official statement in relation to the case.

In case you didn't know...

Rich Swann was suspended by WWE and stripped of his Cruiserweight Championship opportunity last year when it was revealed that he had a very public altercation with his wife back in December and charges had been filed.

Over the past month, it was rumored that he and his wife were back on good terms and the charges were set to be dropped. Yesterday it was confirmed that Swann had been cleared of all the charges, which leaves him open to a return to the Cruiserweight Division in the coming weeks.

The heart of the matter

As well as the reports that Swann had been cleared of the charges yesterday, his lawyer Ian Pickens issued the following statement.

“We are very pleased with the resolution of these charges. We would like to thank the State Attorney’s Office for conducting a thorough investigation, as well as Mr. Swann’s family, friends, and fans that supported him through this. During our representation of Mr. Swann, we have come to know him as a kind and humble young man, who we believe has a bright future ahead of him. We are hopeful that with the dismissal of these charges Mr. Swann will be able to return to the WWE and our firm will do everything we can to assist him in returning to the ring. Thank you.”

It seems that his lawyer got the result that he wanted and now that the case is closed Swann can move on with his career in WWE.

What's next?

The Cruiserweight Division is going through its own version of issues right now, so if Neville isn't set for a return in the coming weeks then it would make sense for Swann to return instead since the 205 Live brand really needs someone to boost their ratings right now.

Author's take

Rich Swann is a former Cruiserweight Champion and since all the charges have been dismissed he should easily be able to slot back into the roster. Swann was always a popular wrestler so it would have been a huge loss to the brand if he wasn't able to return.
