Admit it; we all wanted more from the shockingly short-lived Emmalina character. Ask and you shall receive. A recently surfaced photo has revealed her original ring gear.
In case you missed it....
Emmalina was a character that was teased for over three months on primetime WWE programming. The character that preceded “Emmalina” was that of simply “Emma.” Emma flirted with the main WWE roster throughout the years and had notable stories with Santino Marella and Paige. After her initial push hit the skids, Emma was sent back to NXT to further develop her character.

On that NXT stint, Emma was linked with newcomer Dana Brooke and was the main storyline for Asuka when she debuted on the NXT roster. At WrestleMania 32 in Dallas, Emma re-debuted on the main roster. Emmalina was an evolved version of Emma. The WWE teased an amazingly beautiful woman coming to the main roster but never delivered on the story and it became one of the biggest trolling moments in the history of the WWE.
The heart of the matter
Though the Emmalina character never officially debuted, plans were obviously in motion for it to happen at some point. A recent photo from an Emmalina photoshoot in the WWE reveals what her ring gear would have looked like had the storyline not have been nixed. You can check out the photo here:
What’s next?
Rumours have swirled as to why the Emmalina character was nixed after so much fanfare and promotion. WWE officials simply believed that Emma would not have been able to portray the “Emmalina” character as they wanted. Emma is still a member of the main roster but has yet to do anything significant since coming back on board.
Though Emma is onto other things, the Emmalina character is still something the WWE wants to explore. The new gimmick that Lana has been given is rumoured to be another iteration of the nixed gimmick. As noted earlier, Lana is set to debut on SmackDown Live soon.
Author’s take
There is no doubt that Emma is a beautiful woman. To me, its a slap in the face for WWE officials to say that she couldn’t pull the gimmick off. Clearly, they haven’t seen her Instagram account lately. That said, Emma deserves more in the WWE than just being a beautiful face.
Emma is one of the best overall workers on the roster. She can have competitive matches with anyone and can carry herself well on the microphone. It’s shameful that the WWE has not found something for her to sink her teeth into since her call-up to the main roster in 2016.
