WWE News: Rock musician picks on pro wrestling, gets owned by wrestlers & wrestling fans

The Kings Of Leon band member got quite some backlash

What’s the story?

Many prominent figures have, over time, criticised professional wrestling because it did not meet their tastes or because they found it childish. The latest to do so was American band, Kings of Leon’s bassist, Jared Followill.

Unfortunately for him, the professional wrestling fraternity, in addition to his own fans, united to take him on, and their responses were scathing, to say the least.

In case you didn't know...

Kings of Leon is an American band that has achieved major mainstream success, including winning four Grammy Awards. It is a band that comprises of three brothers - Caleb, Nathan and Jared Followill, and their cousin, Matthew. The band’s name refers to their grandfather, whose name is Leon.

Jared has been with the band from the beginning, handling bass guitar duties.

The heart of the matter

It all began with a tweet from Jared Followill urging people to not watch professional wrestling.

WWE superstars were quick to respond.

Jared Followill was amazed at the backlash and retracted immediately.

As the trolling continued, Followill surrendered.

All's well that end's well, right?

What’s next?

We’re certain that Followill will never become a wrestling fan. However, it is unlikely that he’ll be vocal about his distaste for the same on social media, at least anytime soon.

Author’s Take

I am not a Kings of Leon fan, personally, and I believe the backlash serves the bassist right, for making such a ridiculous remark! It is also heartening to see the wrestling fraternity unite against a common enemy, at least on social media.
