What’s the story?

In a recent interview with CBS Sports’ In This Corner podcast, Roman Reigns expressed his opinion on Kevin Owens’ headbutt of Vince McMahon.

On that note, Reigns reiterated his appreciation for McMahon’s ‘passion’ for the professional wrestling business—taking a high-risk shoot-wrestling move such as a headbutt at his advanced age nonetheless.

Additionally, Reigns praised Kevin Owens for his display of technique just enough to cut McMahon and not injure him. Besides, the Big Dog heaped loads of praise of former opponent AJ Styles, asserting that he’d be happy to simply wrestle no one else but Styles for the rest of his career.

In case you didn’t know…

Roman Reigns is widely regarded by professional wrestling fans and pundits to be Vince McMahon’s chosen one—the man who Mr McMahon envisions as the new face of the WWE, replacing former promotional flag bearer, John Cena.

Speaking of Reigns, the former Shield member has had memorable rivalries with several top Superstars; one of the most prominent among them coming against the aforementioned Styles.

The heart of the matter

Roman Reigns pointed out Vince McMahon bringing colour (blood) on WWE TV-programming in his segment with Kevin Owens; on which the Big Dog insinuated that every WWE Superstar needs to draw inspiration from McMahon’s passion for the job.

Furthermore, Reigns referred to Kevin Owens as a good pro-wrestler and explained that at times as an employee in a given field, you need your boss—in this case McMahon—to enter the fray and elevate your game to the next level.

Reigns continued showing his appreciation for his co-performers, revealing that if someone were to tell him that he’d only be able to wrestle AJ Styles for the remainder of his career, he’d be more than willing to do so. He added—

“It was one of those situations I honestly cherish and I'll never forget those matches we had. I thought our chemistry was incredible from day one in the (Royal) Rumble.”
“He's over there on the blue side and that's important because with his leadership, his tenure, being all around the world and having a deep respect for this business.”

What’s next?

Roman Reigns is set to challenge The Miz for the latter’s WWE Intercontinental Championship in the days to come on RAW.

Author’s take:

Roman Reigns is spot-on as is Vince McMahon’s unrivalled passion for the professional wrestling business.

Besides, as for a possible feud between him and AJ Styles, who wouldn’t love to see the duo run it back, and once again engage one another inside the squared circle in what was one of the most intriguing rivalries in recent WWE history.
