What's the story?

The Shield was one of the most dominant factions in the history of WWE and since there's no hope of Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose teaming up once again in the near future, Reigns has a backup plan to create a new Shield.

In case you didn't know...

The Shield debuted back in 2012 and took over WWE's main roster until 2014 when Seth Rollins turned on his brothers to align himself with The Authority. Over the past four years, all former members of The Hounds Of Justice have become WWE Champion and were even able to reunite back in 2017.

Only Sportskeeda gives you the latest Wrestling News, rumors and updates.

The reunion didn't go to plan with Reigns illness and Ambrose's injury, which is why all three men have gone their separate ways once again. There is no denying that Reigns was at his most popular when he was a member of the group, so it's understandable that he would want to continue to relive those moments.

The heart of the matter

Reigns recently talked to GiveMeSport where he brought up The Usos recent heel turn and how the duo has been underappreciated over the past few months. He then moved on to discuss the idea of him joining his brothers to create a group similar to The Shield.

“You never know, the story is there, it’s easy. We all represent the same bloodline, we all represent the same family, so it would be pretty cool maybe one day if…if there was a Samoan Shield.”

Reigns is currently in a feud with Jinder Mahal whilst The Usos have been away from WWE TV since their storyline with The Bludgeon Brothers came to an end, which means that there is definite potential for this to happen if the trio ever ends up on the same brand.

What's next?

It was recently speculated that WWE had all but given up on their Tag Team Division, so an idea like this could be exactly what the company needs to inject some life back into it.

Author's take

The Shield worked because it was three very different men working towards one goal, all three men complimented each other in the ring and their matches flowed effortlessly, it wouldn't be the same with The Usos and Reigns because they are all very similar. It's an interesting idea if the company wanted to use it, but it probably wouldn't be as successful as the original stable.
