Roman Reigns isn't afraid of a confrontation with Brock Lesnar--respects Vince McMahon

What’s the story?

On a recent edition of the Sam Roberts Wrestling podcast, Roman Reigns opened up on a myriad of topics.

Reigns asserted the bottom-line is that all WWE Superstars are “Vince’s boys”. Reigns expounded upon his aforementioned line of thought, besides also addressing his comments against Brock Lesnar.

In case you didn’t know…

Presently, Roman Reigns is widely regarded as the face of the WWE and has held that position over the past few years.

Regardless, in his ongoing feud with Brock Lesnar, Reigns cut a couple of scathing promos on consecutive episodes of Monday Night RAW, accusing Lesnar of being Vince’s Golden Boy—a privileged performer who has no respect for the WWE Universe and the fundamental values of the pro-wrestling industry.

The heart of the matter

Following Reigns’ aforementioned comments whereby he referred to Brock Lesnar as an entitled Superstar, the vast majority of professional wrestling fans & experts hit back at Reigns pointing out that it’s Reigns who is indeed McMahon’s golden boy.

Reigns addressed the fans/experts’ criticism against him, and opened up on being Vince McMahon’s “Golden Boy”—

“Whether you’re somebody who’s been in a situation like me, or you’re somebody who is new, or has been around for a long time and hasn’t gotten the push that everyone thinks they deserve, the bottom-line is—we’re all Vince’s boys. And when it comes down to it, what we do for him and this company, he has a huge respect for that. You couldn’t be him and be involved in this business and run it the way he has, if you didn’t have the ultimate respect for your performers, for your talent.”

Additionally, Reigns—upon being probed about calling Brock Lesnar a bi**h on national television—explained that his aim as a WWE Superstar is to help grow the business and leave the company in a better place than he found it. Reigns added that his major issue with Lesnar is that the latter lacks the mindset of working to build the WWE, which in turn angers Reigns.

Furthermore, Reigns reiterated that he doesn’t worry in case his promos rub Lesnar the wrong way and lead to a physical confrontation between him and the Beast. Reigns continued that what he does in the WWE is story-telling & building up fights by verbally attacking his WWE rivals, however, at the end of the day they have to get physical in the ring.

Reigns also emphasized that the matchup between him and Lesnar at WrestleMania is set to be incredibly physical, and is truly something to watch out for at next month’s Wrestlemania PPV event—
