What’s the story?

During last night’s WWE Live Event in Albany, current Intercontinental Champion Roman Reigns decided to send a message to his arch-rival Samoa Joe and in doing so “The Big Dog” also commented on his IC Title defence against Joe on the first Raw of 2018.

In case you didn’t know…

Earlier this week, Monday Night Raw General Manager Kurt Angle confirmed via his official twitter that Roman Reigns will be defending his WWE Intercontinental Championship against Samoa Joe, with an added stipulation that insists that if Reigns gets disqualified during the match then not only will he lose the match but his championship as well.

The heart of the matter

Earlier today, WWE released a clip on their official Instagram account in which Roman Reigns was seen reacting to Kurt Angle’s massive news regarding Reigns’ upcoming title defence, this Monday on Raw.

Reigns stated in the video that it is Kurt Angle’s job to make the rules, but Reigns’ task is to focus on his own work which is to defend the Intercontinental Championship. “The Big Dog” also claimed that next Monday on Raw he is going to do exactly what he said and once again successfully defend the IC Title against Samoa Joe.

What’s next?

This stipulation added by Kurt Angle is certainly a very interesting one, especially after Reigns’ action on last week’s episode of Raw in his match against Samoa Joe. The two men will once again look to bring the best out of each other as Joe will look to capitalize on Reigns’ vulnerability during the match and capture the Intercontinental Title.

If the former NXT Champion does manage to pick up the win then this will be his first ever championship win on the main roster.

Author’s Take

Reigns’ message was short but strong enough to be heard by Samoa Joe. Despite the odds being against him, “The Big Dog” certainly seems to be very confident ahead of his title defence against “The Samoan Submission Machine”. Both men will look to begin 2018 in a strong manner.
