WWE News: Roman Reigns takes a shot at CM Punk, discusses a heel turn and more in a recent interview

Roman Reigns with some interesting words for CM Punk's next fight...

What's the story?

Roman Reigns recently spoke with GiveMeSport on their podcast this week to discuss a range of topics within the professional wrestling world.

During the interview, Reigns gave an update on Dean Ambrose, discussed turning heel, and took a jab at former WWE Champion CM Punk. (h/t Wrestling Inc.)

In case you didn't know...

Reigns had a brief professional football career after playing his college ball at Georgia Tech. He was on the Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars in 2007 and played in the Canadian Football League in 2008 for the Edmonton Eskimos.

The heart of the matter

They discussed CM Punk's next appearance in mixed martial arts when he takes on Mike Jackson at UFC 225 on June 9th in Punk's hometown of Chicago, Illinois.

Reigns was asked if he will watch the fight, and he definitely threw some shade Punk's way for how his first UFC fight went with the following quote:

"If it lasts more than 30 seconds."

Punk lost to Mickey Gall 2:14 into the first round by a rear naked choke submission at UFC 203 in September 2016.

They also talked about his brother in The Shield, Dean Ambrose, who has been on the shelf since December with a triceps tear.

Reigns mentioned that Ambrose is "rehabbing like a madman" to try to get back as soon as possible, and Roman hopes it's sooner than later as the company needs him.

Reigns mentioned that his favorite feud on the roster is with Braun Strowman, and the best wrestler in the company is Daniel Bryan. When it comes to turning heel, Reigns said, "You want me to turn heel? Put me with Daniel Bryan."

What's next?

Roman Reigns is rightfully declared as the uncrowned WWE Universal Champion after footage shows that his feet hit the floor first in the steel cage match at the Greatest Royal Rumble.

There may be some clarity for the next step of Reigns on this week's Monday Night Raw at the 02 Arena in London, England.

Author's take

Definitely some interesting comments from The Big Dog on CM Punk. Punk and Reigns were on the main roster for a little over a year together, so they could be friends and Reigns is making a light-hearted comment.

The wrestling fan in all of us would love for it to be the start of a feud and return of Punk, but I am not going to hold my breath on that one.

As for a heel turn, it's worked for the best in the business like The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin before they became the company's biggest stars. For the general wrestling fan, it has to happen in order for them to finally accept Roman.
