In an interview with ESPN, Ronda Rousey revealed that she and her cohorts were named the Four Horsewomen by their fans. Additionally, the former UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion refused to be drawn into any questions about her future, simply stating: "I don't want to come to Shayna's event on Shayna's night and sit here talk about myself. I want to keep tonight all about her. Go Shayna Baszler!"

Ronda Rousey, Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke, and Marina Shafir are collectively known as the Four Horsewomen. They even received the blessing of Ric Flair. After the Mae Young Classic tapings in July, there were several rumours suggesting that the group were in line for a construction with their WWE counterparts — a group consisting of Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, Bayley and Charlotte.

The heart of the matter

When asked about the origin of the Four Horsewomen name, Rousey said: "We were all sitting on the couch and some fans were asking for the picture, to recreate the iconic Four Horsemen picture. We didn't know at that moment that it would turn into something. It wasn't something we named ourselves, it was a name the fans gave to us and we're very grateful for it." The MMA megastar has attempted to stay away from the spotlight after her loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 207, but there have been several rumours about her potentially having a match at WrestleMania 34. With that being said, she refused to comment on her future during this interview.

What's next?

According to our featured columnist Billi Bhatti, the WWE haven't entered into negotiations with Ronda Rousey regarding a potential appearance at WrestleMania 34. They also haven't managed to sign Shayna Baszler to a permanent deal, which is why the Queen of Spades lost to Kairi Sane in the finals of the Mae Young Classic.

Author's take

Even though Rousey's story about the origin of the Four Horsewomen name was charming, it comes as no surprise that she chose to remain tight-lipped about her future. The California native wants to remain away from the public eye, but the media speculation about a WrestleMania appearance will never cease to exist.
