WWE News: Rusev reveals why he is extremely frustrated with the company

Rusev deserves better!
Rusev deserves better!

What's the story?

Rusev and Lana were on the most recent edition of Lillian Garcia's Chasing Glory podcast in which they addressed their current standing in the WWE. The real-life couple pronounced their frustrations regarding the creative direction and gave an honest breakdown on why they were unhappy with how things are currently going.

In case you didn't know...

The Bulgarian Brute has consistently been one of the most over acts on WWE TV owing to his Rusev Day angle. However, despite reaching the peak of his popularity, the 3-time United States Champion has failed to feature at the top of the card on a regular basis.

WWE didn't strike the iron while it was hot and as things stand, Rusev is just another struggling mid-card talent. He recently won the US title from Shinsuke Nakamura only to drop it to the Artist during the Royal Rumble Kickoff show.

If that wasn't bad enough, he lost to R-Truth on last week's SmackDown episode and subsequently turned heel again during the post-match beatdown.

You just can't blame Rusev for being unhappy as the year that went by has been thoroughly underwhelming from a creative standpoint.

The heart of the matter

Rusev was as straightforward as they come on Lillian Garcia's podcast. He stated that he was hurt because nobody cared about the US title anymore. He felt that he was the only one who thought about its prestige and has always wanted to make the title feel special as it was during his feud with John Cena.

However, he mentioned that whenever someone else was handed the title, it got lost and in due time, he would probably get lost too. His displeasure seemed quite evident when he spoke about how he, along with Aiden English, had become strong characters but it all came to an end without a proper payoff.

Rusev vented, “We became so strong and we’re featured but the more you hang around, the more you’re forgotten. It doesn’t matter how good you are. I think I’m good. It doesn’t matter what I do. It kind of ends up the same thing."

Rusev revealed the efforts he'd taken to force Vince McMahon to take notice of him. He lost 50 pounds, trimmed his hair and strived to be in the best shape possible but things continue to remain the same.

“I do all these things but nothing changes. I’m trying to catch Vince’s eye. We pitch, we talk and it never comes to anything,” Rusev said.

Lana, though, was more optimistic as she refused to consider the duo to be forgotten talents. She said that they are willing to fight for their careers and will keep pursuing Vince McMahon until he gives them what they deserve.

She exclaimed, "If you do not fight for your career, you will be lost. We’re going to do everything possible. If it’s not meant to be, we’re going to look back and say, ‘We did everything possible.’

Rusev and Lana opened up on a host of other interesting topics too on the podcast which can be heard in its entirety by clicking here.

What's next?

WWE needs to keep their talents happy as AEW is willing to pounce on superstars who are distressed with their status. Rusev is one of those superstars who has always gotten the short end of the stick and we hope that changes for good going forward.
