Ever since making his return earlier this year, Rusev’s career has gone downhill. However, on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live, the Bulgarian Brute finally got a huge win when he defeated 13-time World Champion Randy Orton within 10 seconds.
In case you didn’t know…
Orton and Rusev started their feud back in August. The two men faced each other at Summerslam earlier this year when Orton defeated Rusev in 10 seconds after catching him with an RKO.

The heart of the matter
This week on Smackdown, Randy Orton defeated Aiden English in a relatively short match. However, Rusev came out and said that he was going to become a national hero in Bulgaria if Orton hadn’t defeated him at Summerslam. The former US champion then challenged “The Viper” to a match, and Orton told the referee to start proceedings.
As soon as the bout began, English — who was at ringside and recovering from the RKO —distracted Orton, allowing Rusev to connect with a huge side kick and pick up the win in 10 seconds.

What’s next?
With only four matches announced for Hell in a Cell so far, Rusev and Orton might face each other once again at the SmackDown Live exclusive PPV next month.

Author’s take
It was definitely good to see Rusev finally get a win, but this still doesn’t add a great deal to his credibility. The Bulgarian Brute needs to start picking up wins on his own and get his momentum back on track.
The best option from here on would be to book another match between Rusev and Orton at next month’s Hell in a Cell with an added stipulation.
