What’s the story?

WWE SmackDown Live superstar and former two-time United States Champion Rusev recently expressed and urged the WWE on Twitter to sign Ring of Honor Wrestling star Flip Gordon.

In case you didn’t know…

Considered as one of the best and up and coming high flying superstars of today’s generation, Flip Gordon made his professional wrestling debut for Independent promotion Chaotic Wrestling back in 2016. Gordon, who is a former one-time Chaotic Wrestling New England Champion, signed with top American promotion Ring of Honor back in 2017.

Flip has also previously competed for top Mexican promotion CMLL, where he wrestled at the company’s 84th Anniversary show and earlier this year, the current Northeast Wrestling Heavyweight Champion competed for the first time in an NJPW ring as Gordon successfully defeated former IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champions Hiromu Takahashi and Kushida in a triple threat match.

The heart of the matter

On a very recent independent show over the course of this past weekend, current Northeast Wrestling Heavyweight Champion Flip Gordon was seen leading a “Rusev Day” chant and successfully managed to get the entire crowd in the arena to chant along with him.

As noted, the video of Gordon leading the “Rusev Day” chants was shared online and shortly afterwards, Rusev himself responded to the video on Twitter as he urged the WWE to sign Flip Gordon, which eventually led to Gordon teasing the possibility by stating in return that his current contract expires soon.

What’s next?

As aforementioned, Flip Gordon is currently signed with ROH, where he is slated to compete at the Supercard of Honor XII show on the 7th of April in New Orleans, at the Lakefront Arena. Flip is scheduled to team up with The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson), as they get all set to challenge SoCal Uncensored for the ROH 6-man Tag Team Titles.

Author’s Take

I’m a huge fan of Flip Gordon, but, personally, I feel there is currently no need for Flip to sign for the WWE and instead the 26-year-old should focus on his career with ROH and eventually try and make it to NJPW on a permanent basis.
