What’s the story?

WWE Smackdown Live superstar Samoa Joe recently spoke with The National in order to promote WWE’s upcoming Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia and during the interview, Joe spoke about a host of topics including his intense feud with ‘The Beast’ Brock Lesnar from last year.

In case you didn’t know…

In 2017, Samoa Joe set his sight towards Brock Lesnar’s WWE Universal Championship and at last year’s Great Balls of Fire pay-per-view, both Lesnar and Joe competed in one of the most intense matches from 2017.

Joe, who had previously choked out both Lesnar and his advocate Paul Heyman with the Coquina Clutch prior to his match with Lesnar, eventually fell short to ‘The Beast Incarnate’ at Great Balls of Fire after Lesnar successfully retained his championship belt via the F-5.

The heart of the matter

While conversing with The National, Samoa Joe made a bold statement by claiming that he fears absolutely no adversary who steps in his way and is someone who doesn’t believe in and respects anyone who fears other men. (H/T: Wrestling Inc)

Joe noted that in order to overcome a challenger like Brock Lesnar, one will have to get up close and personal with ‘The Beast’ himself and will have to act like a monster, in order to conquer a monster like Lesnar.

"You know, Brock Lesnar is like everybody else in the world. You go out, you smash him in the face, get in the grill. You have to get up close and personal with Brock Lesnar. If you are going up against a monster you better be a monster yourself. You have to have a monstrous fury in your heart because that is what it is going to take to beat that guy.

Lastly, the former NXT Champion also added that he definitely isn’t done with Brock Lesnar and the Universal Champion knows for the fact that Joe is definitely not scared of him.

What’s next?

Samoa Joe will challenge for the WWE Intercontinental Championship in a fatal four-way ladder match this weekend at The Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia.

Author’s Take

A properly booked rematch between Samoa Joe and Brock Lesnar could do wonders and could turn out to be an amazing contest, however, as of right now, Joe’s main focus should be towards the IC Title and Roman Reigns and the Smackdown Live roster as well.
