What’s the story?

In a recent conversation with Booker T, former NXT Champion Samoa Joe gave an update regarding his injury and also spoke about him missing the upcoming Royal Rumble match.

In case you didn’t know…

A few weeks ago on an episode of Raw, Samoa Joe suffered an injury on his right foot while facing off in a singles match against Rhyno. Joe’s injury also caused him to pull out from the inaugural WWE Mixed Match Challenge, where the Samoan Submission Machine was originally scheduled to team up with Bayley.

The heart of the matter

While speaking with WWE Hall of Famer Booker T on his podcast Booker T’s Heated Conversations, Joe talked about missing this year’s Royal Rumble match and revealed on how long he will be out with the recent injury that he has sustained.

On missing the Royal Rumble match:

According to Joe, missing one of the “Big 4” shows of the WWE is definitely a sad moment for any superstar in general, however, Joe claims that his main focus right now is to get back and be healthy once again.

“I understand the timetable and what I need to do to exceed that timetable. I am more accepting of the process because I realize it’s unavoidable. Now it’s just about concentrating just getting back and being healthy.”- Samoa Joe stated.

On how long he will be out:

Joe stated that as of right now, his progress is a week-to-week thing and believes that these type of injuries can heal earlier or sometimes later than usually expected. The 38-year-old also added that his foot injury isn’t something that requires surgery and it’s basically all about time, rest, elevation and letting his foot heal.

“It just depends on how quickly it’s going to heal. Hopefully, it will be sooner than later. Obviously, we’re going to be past the Rumble but I don’t know how much further past that.”- Samoa Joe further added.

What’s next?

The WWE Universe and fans of Samoa Joe will now have to wait and see how long Samoa Joe is sidelined with his foot injury. However, we hope that Joe gets back on time for Wrestlemania 34 in New Orleans.
