WWE News: Samoa Joe reveals what attracted him to WWE NXT

Joe is nicknamed as "The Samoan Submission Machine"

Just a few days before his match at NXT Takeover: Toronto, Samoa Joe was interviewed by AM New York. During this interview, the #1 Contender for the NXT Championship was asked about the factors that tempted him to sign with NXT.

Joe cited the ever-increasing popularity of the show as the main reason behind his decision to join the NXT:

“I knew NXT was really gaining a lot of steam, it was kind of exploding and making kind of this tremendous impact on the industry in general. To be there and help further that movement and further that expansion was very, very interesting to me.”

Other than WWE, Joe has worked with numerous promotions including the likes of Ring of Honor and TNA. Having prior experience with an expanding brand, NXT seemed to be the right option for the ‘The Samoan Submission Machine’.

The former TNA World Champion mentioned that the revolutionary impact of NXT, rejuvenates him to work harder and deliver better performance each and every week.

Joe revealed that he is excited to be a part of building NXT as one of the most popular brands in the wrestling industry:

“It’s a really awesome environment to work in. You get this crazy opportunity to be on the ground floor of something and really establish it, and make it a bigger presence in the industry.”

On 20th May 2015, Samoa Joe made his NXT debut at the NXT Takeover: Unstoppable and had a stare down with the then NXT Champion, Kevin Owens. In the following months, he won the inaugural Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic with Finn Balor.

The former teammates soon engaged in an epic feud that cemented Joe as the most destructive force in NXT.
