WWE News: Sasha Banks reveals what she wants for the Women's division next

The Boss is not happy about women's matches at WWE Live Events

What's the story?

WWE Superstar Sasha Banks recently spoke to Al Arabiya about the women's revolution in WWE and in the process revealed what she wants to achieve next, to elevate the women's division further.

In case you didn’t know…

The last couple of years or so have seen somewhat of a revolution in the Women's division in WWE. In October 2015, Bayley and Sasha Banks competed in the first-ever women's Iron Man match in NXT. Later that year in December, they made history again by becoming the first ever women to main-event a PPV.

Fast forward to the present and we have see the first ever Hell in a Cell match for women, the first ever Women's Royal Rumble, Alexa Bliss and Banks have become the first women in history to wrestle in Abu Dhabi and since WrestleMania 32, these women Superstars compete for the Women's Champion (not the Divas Championship) and the word 'Divas' is officially defunct.

The heart of the matter

According to Sasha Banks, there is still a lot left for the women to achieve in WWE. She spoke about how she doesn't want the prefix 'women' to be used in all situations. For instance, The Legit Boss explained that she doesn't want people to say, 'That was a great women's match' and instead just wants it to be called a great match.

She went on to add that she wants to be number one, and the face of WWE one day. What she wants right now though, is for women to main-event WWE house shows. Surprisingly, this hasn't been done before.

“The women have never main-evented a live event yet. Closing out those, and showing the guys that we can do it just like them. I watch guys like Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman have these crazy street fights every night at house shows. I ask them, how do you go through a table every single night? That’s what I want! I want to do it just like them, I want to perform just like them.."

What's next?

As pointed out by Cagesideseats, the most recent Raw live event at Kalamazoo, Michigan had eight matches, out of which only one was a women's division match. As pointed out by Sasha Banks, the women seem to have been slightly neglected at house shows.

Author's take

Kudos to the women Superstars of WWE who have proven themselves just as worthy as any of their male counterparts.

What is lacking though, is proper coherent storylines for the women on both Raw and SmackDown Live. It's time for WWE to stop meaningless 6-woman tag team matches for women and give them proper feuds and storylines. The introduction of a tag team division for women might help things.
