What’s the story?
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Sasha Banks asserted that she’d love to headline Wrestlemania someday and it’s about time that women main-event the show of shows.
Additionally, Banks also requested Indian fans to play guide for her, during the upcoming WWE India tour.
In case you didn’t know…
Sasha Banks became the first female WWE Superstar to headline a major show, as she competed against Bayley at NXT Takeover: Respect back in 2015.
Besides, the "Legit Boss" made history once again by participating in the first women’s Hell In A Cell match, against Charlotte Flair last year.
The heart of the matter
Sasha Banks insinuated her belief that women ought to be given the opportunity to headline Wrestlemania; stating—
“My main goal is to feature in the main event of Wrestlemania. It is the biggest dream of any WWE wrestler and although there has never been an all-woman main event, I think it is about time…We have already done great things like the Money in the Bank this year and it is my goal to create history by headlining the biggest show of the company.”
“To come from a place where we (female stars) used to be called Divas, now we are known as superstars just like the men. To have so much history, being involved in so many first-time matches…It is exciting to be a part of such a big women’s division and I hope for the future to come, we just keep on dominating and showing the world that women’s wrestlers is where it is at and we are doing great things.”
Furthermore, Banks emphasised her gratefulness toward WWE for giving Superstars the chance to travel the world, adding that she’d love to have a proper tour of India. The "Legit Boss" also asked Indian fans to Tweet her the places to visit when she arrives with the WWE entourage.
Sasha Banks is part of the Women’s RAW Survivor Series team, and compete in the upcoming Survivor Series PPV on November 19th.
Speaking of which, Banks is also scheduled to compete during the WWE’s tour of India in the second week of December.
If Banks were to headline WrestleMania, she could maybe take tips from her former tag partner, Roman Reigns, who has headlined WrestleMania on the last three occasions.
Sasha Banks is without a doubt one of the WWE’s most talented young Superstars today.
The 25-year-old has big dreams and an equally big will to succeed in the professional wrestling business. Should women headline Wrestlemania? Sound off in the comments!
