WWE News: Shield Reunion now on hold after Roman Reigns was removed from TLC

The highly anticipated reunion of The Shield will be delayed...

What's the story?

The WWE dropped a major bombshell on Friday afternoon shaking up two major matches on the WWE Tables Ladders & Chairs card for this Sunday. Due to illness, Roman Reigns will not be able to compete, meaning the long-anticipated reunion of The Shield will be put on hold for the time being.

In case you didn't know...

The Shield made their debut at the 2012 Survivor Series by sending Ryback through an announce table with their patented Shield Bomb triple powerbomb, helping CM Punk retain the WWE Championship. They would break up in June of 2014 when Seth Rollins turned on Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns to join Triple H and The Authority.

The heart of the matter

In a pay-per-view that was missing John Cena and Brock Lesnar, the WWE created a huge spark by reuniting The Shield, and judging by the response of the WWE Universe, it was a reunion everyone wanted to see.

The fans will be treated to something special still as Kurt Angle will wrestle in a WWE ring for the first time in 11 years teaming with Ambrose and Rollins against The Miz, Braun Strowman, Cesaro, Sheamus, and Kane.

The next major pay per view is Survivor Series, and it may be the next chance of the WWE to reunite the team. They could take the usual five-on-five Survivor Series format and make a five-on-three handicap elimination match with most of the competitors that were set for the TLC match.

Reigns joins Bray Wyatt on the sidelines for the Tables Ladders and Chairs pay per view, who is rumoured to be battling a case of viral meningitis that has also affected his brother Bo Dallas and ring announcer, JoJo.

In Wyatt's place will be AJ Styles in a rare cross-brand match against Finn Balor. There will be a high level of excitement for this match as it is two former leaders of the famed Bullet Club faction.

What's next?

Tables Ladders & Chairs takes place this Sunday on the WWE Network live from the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. With Angle and Style on the show, it could be a special evening.

Author's take

There were rumblings that there could be some changes to the TLC card with all of the illnesses going on, but it is going to be an absolute treat to see Angle in a WWE ring again wrestling alongside Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins.

Then there is a battle of the former Bullet Club leaders! That match is going to probably steal the show.

On a personal note, I hope that Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns get well soon!
