Mauro Ranallo is the current play-by-play commentator for NXT...

What's the story?

Showtime announced via a press release on Monday afternoon that the documentary featuring NXT play-by-play announcer Mauro Ranallo will debut on Friday, May 25th at 9:00 P.M. Eastern. A trailer was also released for the documentary on Monday.

In case you didn't know...

Mauro signed a contract with the WWE late in 2015 and made his debut on the first regular live edition of SmackDown Live on January 6, 2016. After a short hiatus in 2017, Mauro returned to the WWE as the play-by-play announcer of NXT with Percy Watson and Nigel McGuinness as color commentators.

The heart of the matter

The Showtime Sports YouTube account posted a trailer for the documentary entitled "Bipolar Rock 'N' Roller." Take a look at the trailer below:

The trailer shows some of the early days of Mauro's career presumably with Stampede Wrestling or Top Ranked Wrestling in Canada. He's described by his peers as having so much energy and was a different person when the microphone was in front of him.

With all of the high's that came with performing came the breakdowns and rage from the other side of having Bipolar Affective Disorder. The title of the documentary, Bipolar Rock 'N' Roller, is a nickname that Mauro gave to himself while he was a DJ in the early 1990's.

What's next?

The documentary will debut on Showtime just a little less than a month from now on May 25th. You will be able to catch Mauro doing what he does best this coming Wednesday as a new edition of NXT hits the WWE Network.

Author's take

As someone who has battled depression most of his adult life, I am very interested in seeing the raw story of Mauro's struggles to battle his bipolar disorder. You can tell from the trailer, this story is not going to be sugar coated, and it shouldn't.

This will provide fans of Mauro some insight into his struggles and more understanding of the disorder. If there is one word that I can take from the trailer, it is "intense."
