What's the story?

WWE SmackDown Live star and member of The Riott Squad, Liv Morgan took to social media recently to reveal that she sustained a minor injury backstage and had to get a stitch for the same.

In case you didn’t know…

After her stint on NXT, Liv Morgan made her main roster debut on SmackDown Live as part of the heel faction The Riott Squad alongside Ruby Riott and Sarah Logan.

She entered the Royal Rumble at the #11 spot and was later eliminated by Michelle McCool.

The heart of the matter

The former-NXT star recently took to her Instagram account and posted a story about how she had a minor accident backstage. While being helped to get her gear pads cut out, Morgan sustained a slight cut on her thigh. Appearing in the video with Sasha Banks and Ruby Riott, Morgan revealed that she need stitches for the injury.

In the background Ruby Riott can be heard correcting Liv, saying that it was just one stitch and not 'stitches'.

Morgan later posted that she was recovering and doing well, and thanked the fans for their wishes and support.

What's next?

The Riott Squad has not been well received by the fans, as it is perceived to a rip-off of the Absolution stable over on Raw. All three superstars are yet to find their footing on the main roster.

Ruby Riott is now set to face Charlotte for the SmackDown Live Women's Championship at Fastlane. Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan will be present ringside and are sure to play a part in the outcome of the match. But, it is extremely unlikely that Ruby Riott will score a win over Charlotte at Fastlane since the winner will go on to WrestleMania as the Champion.

Author's take

The injury was a minor one and it is clear that even Liv Morgan posted about it humorously. That being said, WWE should probably pull the plug on the Riott Squad going forward or at least change their gimmick so that they don't seem like a bootleg of Absolution.
