What’s the story?

SmackDown Live Superstar Samir Singh has reportedly sustained an ankle injury.

During this week’s SmackDown segment featuring Jinder Mahal and Bobby Roode, Samir rolled his ankle and fell to the ground. Fans can catch a glimpse of Samir in the moments after the injury below—

In case you didn’t know…

Ever since the WWE paired up The Singh Brothers with Jinder Mahal, they’ve accompanied and assisted the latter throughout his matches on SmackDown Live, PPVs and well as the WWE’s live events.

In fact, both Samir & Sunil Singh played a key role in helping Mahal win and defend the WWE Championship for several months over 2017, until he lost the title to AJ Styles late last year.

The heart of the matter

This week’s episode of SmackDown Live saw Jinder Mahal defeat Xavier Woods in a WWE United States Championship Tournament match, whereas Bobby Roode bested Mojo Rawley in his tournament matchup.

While the finals of the US title tournament were scheduled for next week’s SmackDown Live, the WWE decided to crown the US Champion this week, as Bobby Roode urged Mahal that they have their match for the vacant United States Championship right away. It was during a segment where Roode defended himself against The Singh Brothers that Samir Singh rolled his ankle.

As of this writing, the extent of Samir’s ankle injury is yet to be revealed.

What’s next?

Fans can expect the WWE and Samir Singh to provide further details on his ankle injury over the next few days. Meanwhile, Sunil Singh is likely to continue accompanying ‘The Modern Day Maharajah’ Jinder Mahal to the ring in the days to come.

Mahal came up short in his match against Bobby Roode, as the latter became the new WWE United States Champion. However, fans can expect Mahal to be a key player in the blue brand's mid-card for the foreseeable future.

Author’s take

Honestly speaking, for those unaware of The Singh Brothers’ work both in and outside the WWE as The Bollywood Boyz, would know how hard-working Samir & Sunil are.

Samir’s injury is an unfortunate situation, and recovery time for an ankle injury could be anywhere from 2-8 weeks depending on its severity.

Sportskeeda wishes Samir Singh a safe & speedy recovery.
