WWE News: Smackdown superstar reacts to Vince McMahon-Kevin Owens segment

What’s the story?

During WWE’s recent trip to Dubai, Smackdown Live superstar Mojo Rawley sat down to have a conversation with William Mullaly from Dubai Eye and Al Arabiya.

During the interview, Mojo discussed his WWE career so far, his reaction to Vince McMahon being headbutted a few weeks back on Smackdown, and also talked about his Arabic heritage.

In case you didn’t know…

Two weeks back on an episode of Smackdown Live, WWE Chairman, Vince McMahon made an appearance and confronted Kevin Owens, who got into a brawl with Smackdown commissioner Shane McMahon.

Things got hectic during Vince’s confrontation with the former Universal champion and it did not take long for Owens to cross the line and put his hands on the chairman. Owens headbutted Vince, followed it up with a superkick and a frog splash, and left the 72-year-old unconscious in the middle of the ring.

The heart of the matter

Since the incident, several superstars had different opinions and thoughts regarding the angle and Mojo Rawley was the latest one to give his opinion on the incident.

During his interview, Rawley stated that he was on his way backstage after his tag match against Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin (which was prior to the segment) and stopped in his tracks to watch the entire fallout between Owens and Vince.

“I walked past right as he got headbutted in the face and I was like, 'Wait, what? What?!' And I backed up to the TV and I'm sitting there with my jaw all the way down to my feet. It was like, 'Are you kidding me right now? Did that really just happen?”, Rawley said to David Mullaly.

Rawley claimed that the entire segment left him shell-shocked. He stated that he knows what a tough man Vince McMahon is but the entire beatdown was just brutal.

What’s next?

As one-half of the Hype Bros, Mojo Rawley had his share of ups and downs since his arrival to the main roster. He and his tag partner Zack Ryder were on the verge of getting a shot at the SD Live Tag Team Titles but that never happened due to Ryder's knee injury.

Since then, Mojo received a small singles push that saw him win the Andre the Giant earlier this year at Wrestlemania but he didn’t go further after that.

Currently, he is back once again to team up with Ryder, but the duo has had some trust issues over the past few weeks owing to their consistent defeats on the blue brand.

Author’s take

The Hype Bros have been teasing a breakup in recent weeks, but in my opinion, there shouldn’t be another tag team break up anytime soon. Haven’t we seen enough betrayals?

Also, the current Smackdown roster is filled with singles talent. With the likes of Luke Harper and Dolph Ziggler failing to get a singles match on TV, there doesn’t seem to be hope for Ryder and Rawley as singles superstars.

The best decision from here on would be to turn both of them heel and give them a much darker gimmick, instead of just being ‘happy-go-lucky’ all the time.
