Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss competed in the first ever women's match for the WWE in the UAE.

What's the story?

The Chief Brand Officer of the WWE, Stephanie McMahon posted on Twitter Friday morning to talk about the first ever women's match to take place in the United Arab Emirates. Take a look at her tweet below:

In case you didn't know...

The acceptance of women in non-traditional roles has changed in the United Arab Emirates over the course of the past few years. The freedom and progress of women in these roles paved the way for Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss to have the first ever women's match for the WWE within the country.

The heart of the matter

You could tell on social media yesterday as the Abu Dhabi WWE Live event was taking place that this moment was a big deal to those people. The fact that the WWE Universe in Abu Dhabi was chanting "this is hope" is amazing.

Stephanie McMahon played a big part in getting the women's revolution kickstarted in the WWE, and for her to see this moment on Thursday, she definitely has to be proud.

As you can see in the main photo, Sasha and Alexa were not dressed in their normal gear. To respect the culture in Abu Dhabi, Sasha wore a full-body suit designed by her husband Mikaze; while Bliss wore a long-sleeved shirt and pants.

What's next?

The WWE Live tour for the Raw brand continues in Abu Dhabi Friday evening before going to India on Saturday. Sasha Banks, Alexa Bliss, Jinder Mahal and The Singh Brothers were the first to arrive in India.

Author's take

As I was writing the live results from this event yesterday, it was really great seeing all the tweets from the WWE Universe in Abu Dhabi. Seeing their excitement for Bliss and Banks was tremendous, I didn't know about the chants until Stephanie tweeted about it; which makes this moment even more special.

The great thing about this moment is that it could help encourage young women in the country to have the courage to want to pursue a career in pro wrestling.
