WWE News: Steve Austin comments on superstars pointing at the WrestleMania sign

A beer for
A beer for your thoughts?

What’s the story?

WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin was recently joined by controversial creative writer Vince Russo on the latest edition of his podcast, and the two discussed a number of topics including WWE superstars pointing at the WrestleMania sign.

In case you didn’t know...

It has been very common in recent years that the winner of the WWE Royal Rumble match points at the WrestleMania sign after they win, to apparently remind us that it is where they are heading because of their big win.

Lately, its more than the Royal Rumble winners that are pointing at the sign, as seen a lot during Ronda Rousey's debut, as well as every time someone announces their WrestleMania match, whether it be a title match, regular match, or entry into a Battle Royal, they always point at the sign.

The heart of the matter

During the most recent edition of his podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Austin revealed that he loathes every time a superstar points at the signs. He commented on it saying:

''Hello McFly, we get it! WrestleMania is around the corner we don't need a reminder every five minutes.''

Austin's guest on his podcast, former WWE, WCW and TNA head of creative Vince Russo also chimed in, saying he noticed fans recently arguing about how Shinsuke Nakamura points at the sign with more charisma than others, and said, ''Are you kidding me Steve? We're getting to the point where fans actually care about how someone points at a sign?!''

What’s next?

WrestleMania is just under three weeks away, on April 8, 2018 in New Orleans. Of course, we have every WWE superstar to remind us of such when they make sure to literally point that out.

Author's take

I have to agree with Austin and even Russo here, we don't need to have every single superstar on the roster point to the WrestleMania sign during every single segment and the end of every match. We know when it's happening and that they will be wrestling at it.
