What’s the story?

On an edition of The Steve Austin Show Unleashed, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin spoke to Vince Russo on a myriad of topics.

While Russo, a highly-regarded former WWE and WCW writer, praised the way Austin executed the segment where he drove a Zamboni, Austin recalled the time he drove a monster truck on The Rock’s car.

In case you didn’t know…

‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin and The Rock engaged in one of the most memorable rivalries over the majority of the Attitude Era.

While The Rock would eventually go on to beat Austin in their trilogy matchup at Wrestlemania XIX, following which the latter would gradually step away from the sport, Austin had the upper hand during the initial stages of their rivalry.

The heart of the matter

Vince Russo had words of high praise for Steve Austin, as the former explained how Austin wreaked havoc on RAW while driving a Zamboni (an ice-smoothing machine primarily used to smoothen ice hockey rinks), destroying a Lighting truck and portraying himself as a reckless hell-raiser.

Furthermore, Austin revealed that his personal favorite moment was when he drove a monster truck over The Rock’s car—completely destroying the latter’s vehicle. Austin recalled—

"I looked at the dude that was riding with me, it was his Monster Limo, which was before I crushed The Rock's car with the 3:16 Truck, he said to me that before I hit it to give it a little gas and jump over it. I said, 'What happens if the axel breaks and we collapse?' He goes, 'hell, then you're going to have to walk in.' All of a sudden I get my cue and that was the way we were running back then. I hit the car just right, (and) I was fully prepared for whatever happened; it happened."

What’s next?

Steve Austin is set to appear on the 25th-anniversary episode of Monday Night RAW this January 22nd.

On the other hand, while The Rock has stated that he’d love to be at the milestone event, however, his Hollywood schedule would probably prevent him from appearing in person at the show.

Author’s take

The Attitude Era was as edgy as it gets, and Austin’s destruction of The Rock’s car was yet another classic ‘Rattlesnake’ memory that shall stay with the WWE Universe forever.
