WWE News: Sting denies rumours, says he's not officially retired

Like his appearances in the WWE, Sting kept it short

The wrestling community was left reeling when reports surfaced last week of soon-to-be WWE Hall of Famer Sting being forced to retire due to a grave neck injury. He was expected to announce his retirement at next month’s Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

There might be a sliver of hope for the Universe as the veteran himself cleared the air about these claims in a statement to a TMZ reporter, according to wrestlinginc.com. “My neck is okay. I'm not officially retired. There's a lot of rumors out there, but I'm not officially retired”, said Sting.

Previous reports stated that Sting is afflicted with cervical spinal stenosis, a narrowing of the gap in the spinal vertebrae that pinches the nerves and causes extreme pain. It is the same condition that forced former WWE Superstar Edge to retire in 2011.

Sting suffered the injury after a Turnbuckle Powerbomb from Seth Rollins at Night of Champions in September 2015. He was in the midst of a feud with the Authority and had his sights set on the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

When asked about WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan being compensated $ 115 million in the Gawker sex tape trial, Sting refused to comment.

On a related note, Sting turned 57 today. WWE EVP Triple H’s tweet couldn’t have said it better:
