What’s the story?

The Miz has taken to social media so as to call out Finn Balor over the latter’s perceived lack of success in the WWE.

Apparently, The Miz took a shot at Balor not having accomplished anything significant in his WWE stint after relinquishing the WWE Universal Championship due to injury back in 2016.

In case you didn’t know…

Finn Balor has competed in the sport of professional wrestling since 2000.

Balor rose to prominence in NJPW, where he performed from 2006 to 2014, following which he wrestled in WWE NXT from 2014-16, and then captured the Universal title at SummerSlam 2016.

The heart of the matter

One ought to note that after relinquishing the WWE Universal title due to a labrum tear in 2016, Balor hasn’t captured another title in the WWE since.

Ahead of his Gauntlet Match against six other Superstars including Balor, The Miz took a shot at the former Universal Champion; posting a photo of him pinning Balor. Besides, The Miz sent out another Tweet; stating—

“What's the word for when you've done nothing for nearly two years so you keep reminding people you did something good once? Oh yeah, Finn Balor. #AlwaysInTheBackground”

What’s next?

The WWE has confirmed a Gauntlet Match between John Cena, Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, Elias, Seth Rollins, The Miz, and Finn Balor to take place on the upcoming episode of RAW.

A seven-man Elimination Chamber Match comprising the aforementioned RAW Superstars will take place at the Elimination Chamber PPV on 25 February—with the winner of the matchup earning the right to challenge Brock Lesnar for the latter’s WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 34.

Author’s take

Truth be told—as a long time fan of Finn Balor, it’s hard to admit that The Miz’s comments indeed ring true.

Balor seems to have hit a plateau in his WWE stint and needs a big win this year to solidify himself as a top Superstar again. Here’s hoping Balor Club reigns supreme in WWE this year.
