WWE News: The Rock's new movie bags $30 million opening weekend

Dwayne “The Roc” Johnson and Kevin Hart in Central Intelligence

The Rock is one of the most iconic stars in sports entertainment. He is the first person to make a successful transition from pro-wrestling to Hollywood. Starting from Scorpion King to his latest movies, he has entertained the fans on the big screen as much as he has entertained them in the ring. His works in the Fast and Furious franchise brought him a lot of acclaim among the fans.

His latest movie, Central Intelligence , opened on June 17th amidst much fanfare. It was estimated to have a whopping $30 million opening weekend collection. According to Deadline, the movie beat the estimates and is eyeing to open with $33.5 million. They also noted that the audience loved the action comedy. And it looks like the critics have not thrown it under the bus either. Rotten Tomatoes gave it 69% rating.

Looks like The Rock’s golden touch is working in the movie business too. It is also to be noted that The Rock will be starring in the world’s first superhero movie as Doc Savage himself. If these ever-growing string of accomplishments continue, it will be hard for wrestling fans to see him wrestle one more time, even if it is WrestleMania.
