Will the Hounds of Justice emerge victorious?

What’s the story?

WWE announced on Twitter that The Shield will take on The Miz, Cesaro & Sheamus in a 6-Man Tag Team match tonight on Monday Night Raw.

In case you didn’t know...

The Shield was originally scheduled to face The Miz, Braun Strowman, Kane, Cesaro & Sheamus at the TLC pay-per-view in October, but Reigns was pulled from the card due to a viral infection and was replaced by Raw General Manager Kurt Angle.

Ambrose and Rollins would continue fighting Cesaro & Sheamus and ultimately lost the Raw Tag Team Championships to Cesaro & Sheamus after The New Day faked a second SmackDown Invasion.

The heart of the matter

Reigns has been absent from WWE programming for nearly a month. His return to in-ring competition alongside Ambrose and Rollins will mark the first Shield match in over three years.

The last match The Shield had as a collective unit was the No Holds Barred match against Evolution at the 2014 Payback pay-per-view where The Shield eliminated Triple H, Batista and Randy Orton in a clean sweep.

Ambrose, Rollins, and Angle defeated The Miz, Cesaro, Sheamus and the others at the TLC pay-per-view, and The Shield reunited may end up beating them as well.

What’s next?

The Shield versus The New Day is expected to be announced for the Survivor Series pay-per-view at some point and could stem from a potential New Day run-in tonight.

The New Day has already faked a second SmackDown invasion, so having them lead the charge again and interfere with The Shield’s business for the second time could be the catalyst for the rumored match.

Author’s take

Booking this match with Reigns will give fans what they were promised at TLC and it could also be used to add fuel to the fire for the coming Shield versus New Day announcement.

Needless to say, it’s something to look forward to on tonight’s episode of Raw.
