WWE News: The Undisputed Era make their NXT debut as a team

The Undisputed Era

The Undisputed EraWhat's the story?

The Undisputed Era - the NXT faction made up of former Ring of Honor legends Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish - may have been a presence in the company for some time now, they've yet to compete in a match as an entire group.

At least until tonight, when the three of them competed against SAnitY (Eric Young, Alexander Wolfe and Killian Dane) in six-man tag action on tonight's episode of NXT on the WWE Network.

In case you didn't know...

In the weeks leading up to NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III, both O'Reilly and Fish made their debuts on NXT TV. While neither were successful in their singles debuts, they rejoined forces as a team during Takeover, when they attacked new NXT tag champs SAnitY, as well as the former champs, the Authors of Pain.

It wasn't the last time we saw them that night, as they both circled the ring following Drew MacIntyre's NXT championship victory. However, it was merely a distraction as Adam Cole entered the ring and planted a superkick on the newly crowned champion.

The heart of the matter

Since then, the group is known as the Undisputed Era has been making life miserable for, well, just about everyone on NXT. But, this Wednesday was the first time we saw all three of them as a team since coming to WWE.

At the end, while it looked like SAnitY was going to take the win, thanks to Dane's high powered offence, the match was broken up by the Authors of Pain. It looks as if AOP is dead set in being the top contenders since losing the titles at Takeover.

What's next?

Well... War Games is next. SAnitY vs Undisputed Era vs AOP and... Roderick Strong? It's a possibility. We're just going to have to wait and see in the coming weeks before the next Takeover event how all of this plays out.

Author's take

As a kid of the 80s and 90s, I loved the War Games matches. I'm extremely stoked to see it return and, let's be honest, NXT is probably the best place for it right now. Watching the build-up to this match has been as much fun as the match itself is most likely going to be.
