WWE News: Three Superstars qualify for Money in the Bank Match on Raw
This week's Raw saw three Qualifying Matches for a spot at MITB.
What's the story?
The Raw after Backlash opened with General Manager Kurt Angle announcing Qualifying Matches for the Money in the Bank Ladder Matches. This week's episode saw three Superstars book their place in the MITB match after winning their respective matches.
In case you didn’t know…
The Money in the Bank Ladder Match first took place at WrestleMania 21 back in 2005. The winner of the match gets a shot at the World Championship, at a time and place of his choosing, within the next year.
After 2010, the match was featured in a namesake PPV of its own. For the first time last year, a Women's MITB match was held, which was eventually won by Carmella. This year's PPV will also feature two MITB matches, one for the men and one for women.
The heart of the matter
Raw GM Kurt Angle kicked off the show by announcing two triple threat qualifying matches for the MITB Ladder Match. Just as he was announcing the matches, the Monster Among Men, Braun Strowman, came out and demanded that he get a spot in the match as well. Angle conceded that Strowman did indeed deserve a shot at the match, but before he was finished, Kevin Owens came out and demanded a shot as well.
Hence, there were three qualifying matches on Raw this past week - Braun Strowman vs Kevin Owens; Ember Moon vs Ruby Riott vs Sasha Banks; Roman Reigns vs Finn Balor vs Sami Zayn.
After winning their respective matches, Braun Strowman, Finn Balor and Ember Moon have now been confirmed for the MITB match at the namesake PPV next month.
The next few weeks of Raw and SmackDown are sure to feature more qualifying matches for MITB. The pay-per-view itself will take place on June 17th at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois.
The next few weeks are sure to be exciting as we will see the two MITB matches shaping up and the event itself is one of the most exciting ones in WWE.
