WWE News: TJ Perkins' Clash Of Champions plans expected to be revealed tonight
TJP will find out his first challenge in the big leagues tonight.
Raw’s Cruiserweight division finally begins tomorrow after much anticipation. So far, six names have been announced apart from the Cruiserweight Champion T.J Perkins – Brian Kendrick, Rich Swann, Gran Metalik, Cedric Alexander, Lince Dorado, Noam Dar.
It is being said that by the end of Raw we are expected to know who the Number 1 contender for the Cruiserweight Champion is. The contender will face Perkins at Clash Of Champions, where all (Raw) titles will be defended.
It is likely that there will be a series of matches or a six-pack challenge to determine the man who will chase Perkins. The cruiserweight division is already being considered to potentially be the most exciting part of Monday Night Raw which needs a boost. Its counterpart, Smackdown Live has been considered superior 6 of the 8 weeks after the draft.
The Cruiserweight Classic has garnered mass acclaim by fans and pundits alike. More names are expected to join the Raw cruiserweight division, such as Jack Gallagher, Akira Tozawa, Johnny Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa, from what we know. As of now, Gallagher and Tozawa are finishing up with their independent dates, while Gargano just got married this weekend and Ciampa was one of his groomsmen. So we may see the DIY pair on Raw sooner than later.
Nonetheless, tomorrow’s episode of Raw promises to be a very good one, for the cruiserweight division alone. In their prime, WCW’s cruiserweights were considered to be the highlights of the show, with the likes of Eddie Guerrero, Chris Jericho, Rey Mysterio, Dean Malenko, Chris Benoit, Chavo Guerror Jr.,etc. During the time, WCW’s mid card was considered strong while the main event was weak, and the WWF’s main event was considered strong but the main event was considered weak.
Cruiserweight Champion T.J Perkins said that he nor fellow finalist Gran Metalik had known that their match would be for the Cruiserweight Championship. It must’ve been a pleasant surprise for him finding out that he was going over. Either way, now he is entering a bigger pond, and he is the current face of the Cruiserweight division. The match-ups between the competitors are absolute entertainers, and regardless of who faces who, the enjoyment is guaranteed.
Who would you like to see TJ Perkins have his first title defense against at Clash Of Champions? A rematch with Gran Metalik or a newer challenger for the Duke of Dab?
