What’s the story?

As reported by the Wrestling Observer, Triple H has announced a change to the trademark WarGames cage.

Speaking of which, Triple H asserted that the WarGames cage won’t have a roof; besides explaining the logic behind said change—

In case you didn’t know…

The WarGames match is perhaps one of the most popular gimmick matches in the history of professional wrestling.

It was initially featured by the NWA and later by WCW; wherein multiple teams would compete inside two adjacent cages.

The heart of the matter

Speaking of which, Triple H has now revealed that although the iconic WarGames matchup will feature the two cages and similar rule-set, the only change is that the cages won’t have a roof.

Furthermore, Triple H insinuated that the style has changed; besides emphasizing the possibilities of performers now having the option of executing moves off the cage among other spots.

In reference to the same, Triple H also opined that they haven’t really deviated from the core concept of the matchup.

What’s next?

NXT Takeover: WarGames takes place at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas on November 18th—the day prior to Survivor Series.

The aforementioned WarGames matchup features The Authors Of Pain (Akam & Rezar) vs SAnitY (Eric Young, Alexander Wolfe & Killian Dain) vs The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish).

Author’s take

The WWE has made a great decision by bringing back the WarGames match.

Additionally, what makes this showdown even more intriguing is—as Triple H noted—the absence of a roof over the cages, which in turn could lead to the Superstars performing high-risk maneuvers from off the top of the cages.

NXT Takeover: WarGames is a stacked card top-to-bottom, and the WWE Universe is considerably hyped for this appetizer; before we roll into Survivor Series 2017.
