WWE News: Triple H confirms rumors of WWE being interested in signing Conor McGregor

The WWE are high on the prospect of getting Conor McGregor on board

Reports of WWE showing interest in signing the hottest commodity in the combat sports world, Conor McGregor, have been doing the rounds ever since the Notorious created history at UFC 205 be becoming the first man to hold two UFC titles simultaneously. In a major update, the COO of WWE, Triple H confirmed the rumors in a recent interview with The Telegraph.

When asked about the possibility of seeing the double UFC Champion inside a WWE ring, the Game said, "He could come over, he's got it all, man - he's got the personality, the skills, the talk. He's an entertainer, for sure. "What does he walk around at? 180lbs? I have smaller guys now in the WWE. We have 200lb guys who are stars. You don't need to be 300lbs anymore."

Triple H likened a possible WWE stint for McGregor to Floyd Mayweather’s match against the Big Show back at WrestleMania 24. “ If his announcement has anything to do with WWE, then it's news to me. "But yeah, he could do just as well as Floyd Mayweather when he fought the Big Show. That really worked. Conor could do it for sure,” Triple H said.

Conor McGregor, though, trashed the rumors of a remarkable WWE debut on Instagram yesterday. When asked by a fan about a WrestleMania appearance, Mystic Mac replied in trademark McGregor style by saying “f**k WrestleMania”. However, this doesn’t rule out McGregor giving pro wrestling a shot.

Triple H was at Madison Square Garden for the historic UFC event that fuelled further speculation of WWE looking to cash on the popularity of the Notorious. McGregor dropped more hints at trying out something outside the avenues of MMA in the post-fight press conference of UFC 205.

He revealed he would be taking some time off as he is expecting a kid with his wife, Dee Devlin. McGregor's Left field announcement and Triple H’s confirmation of the rumors add more authenticity to the reports of him being WWE bound. With WrestleMania 33 coming close with each passing day, WWE would be looking to entice McGregor to sign a one-off deal for a special appearance at the show of shows, akin Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 31.

Knowing Vince McMahon and his way of getting things done, the plausibility of it happening are always high.
