What’s the story?

Triple H did the unthinkable at a house show and donned Roman Reigns’ Shield gear to team with Dean Ambrose and seemingly former rival, Seth Rollins.

In case you didn’t know...

Rollins betrayed the Shield to join Triple H and The Authority in 2014 and remained a staple in The Authority’s regime. Their alliance came to an end when Triple H attacked Rollins in a Universal Championship match in 2016 and chose to side with Kevin Owens.

Rollins and Triple H eventually had an unsanctioned match at WrestleMania 33 that ended with The Architect as the victor.

The heart of the matter

Triple H replaced Reigns on the European tour, similar to Kurt Angle replacing Reigns at TLC after he took ill.

While the fans in attendance may have enjoyed the segment, other fans suggested that Triple H wearing Shield gear and teaming with the faction with no explanation contradicts a bulk of their storylines over the years.

Not only did Rollins and Triple H have history, but The Game feuded with Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns after The Shield broke up in 2014.

Some fans are suggesting that this could be the sign of a coming babyface turn, but that is purely speculation at this point. With Stephanie McMahon returning to Raw as a heel, it is expected that Triple H will be a heel upon his return to the main roster.

What’s next?

This occurred at a house show, so it more than likely won’t have any bearing on any future storylines.

The hatred and vitriol Triple H expressed against the members of The Shield over the years made it seem as if they’d be fighting each other for quite a while, but this recent development has a lot of fans changing their tune.

Author’s Take

Had this stayed as a house show moment, it might not have been a big issue, but the decision to upload it to their social media and promote it seems strange.
