WWE News: Tyler Bate invited to 205 Live by new GM, told to be ready to compete

The first eve
The first ever WWE UK Champion Tyler Bate looks set to compete on 205 Live tonight

What's the story?

With a vacant Cruiserweight Championship and the announcement of a new General Manager imminent, 205 Live looks like it'll be undergoing quite the overhaul from tonight onwards.

Well, add to that, what seems like a new addition to the roster in Tyler Bate and it makes the show must-see television tonight!

In case you didn't know...

Just last week it was announced that the vacant title would be addressed this week after Enzo Amore was released from WWE and, of course, stripped of his championship.

Twitter has been abuzz with speculation over who it could be, with rumours of Rey Mysterio, Billy Kidman, Hurricane and William Regal all floating about - and it looks like there's been yet another twist.

Bate competed for the first time on 205 Live during the 2017 UK tour but lost to then Cruiserweight Champion, Enzo Amore.

The heart of the matter

On the official WWE Twitter, an exclusive video interview with Tyler Bate has popped up just hours before 205 Live where he tells the world he's been invited along to 205 Live by the new General Manager and told to be ready to compete.

WWE even hints that it might put Bate in the title picture.

Bate made history last year when he defeated current UK Champion Pete Dunne to become the first ever holder of the UK Championship. He has been involved in some incredible matches on NXT since - even winning an NXT Match of the Year award for a following match with Dunne.

Well, it looks like Bate is set to make his mark on 205 Live tonight - and perhaps his appearance is a strong hint to who the GM could be.

What's next?

Well, we don't need to wait long to find out what's going on. 205 Live airs on WWE Network immediately after SmackDown Live tonight.

Author's take

A shake-up could be just what 205 Live needs and Tyler Bate will be an awesome addition to the roster!

William Regal had been touted as a potential GM, as had Rockstar Spud. Bate's interview would lead us to believe a British GM could be announced. Maybe Nigel McGuinness or Paige would be a good outside bet, who knows?

Either way, this may be the most exciting build-up for a 205 Live show in its short history!
