WWE News: UK Superstars to appear on 205 Live

Pete Dunne wins the UK Championship

What's the story?

The 'UK Division' seems all set to make a mark on WWE programming as the division has been invited to appear on the next edition of 205 Live. On the most recent episode of Raw, Pete Dunne – the UK Champion – made his main roster debut and defeated the Cruiserweight Champion, Enzo Amore, in spectacular fashion.

In case you didn't know...

WWE held a United Kingdom Championship Tournament earlier this year; the first round took place on 14th January 2017 and the finals took place the next day. The tournament was held at the Empress Ballroom in Blackpool, Lancashire, and was very well received by audience worldwide.

The Tournament was won by the 20-year-old prodigy – Tyler Bate – after he defeated 'the Bruiserweight' Pete Dunne in a gruelling and highly competitive finals match.

Tyler Bate then lost the UK Championship to Pete Dunne in a UK Championship rematch which took place at the NXT Takeover: Chicago event on 20th May 2017.

Many of the competitors featured in the tournament such as Pete Dunne, Tyler Bate, Trent Seven and Danny Burch among others have made regular appearances in NXT this year.

The heart of the matter

With Dunne making a huge impact on RAW and the next episode of 205 Live taking place in Manchester, England, this would be the perfect opportunity for the division to showcase their abilities.

Although, the viewership of 205 live has gone up ever since Enzo Amore became the centrepiece of the show; the show could use a boost, and the high profile superstars from the UK could do just that.

What's next?

With the final status of the UK television show still being undecided, it could be possible that the UK stars become regulars on 205 live and get featured more prominently on WWE Television.

It is also possible that this is just a one-time attraction because of the on-going WWE Tour of the United Kingdom.

Author's take

The WWE up till now have failed to utilize the talents of their UK based performers and this would be a good opportunity for the WWE to introduce them to a wider audience and gain popularity.

Even though 205 Live is stacked with great athletes and incredible performers, the addition of new star-power will only benefit the purple brand.

It will be interesting to see where WWE will be heading with this angle. Maybe a traditional Survivor Series style match could be in the works considering that the Survivor Series PPV is just around the corner.
