What's the story?

Mike Kanellis hasn't been seen on WWE TV this year and his appearances have seemingly been sparse ever since his wife Maria announced that they were expecting their first child. It seems that Kanellis has been putting the hours in behind the scenes and recently revealed the results of his hard work.

In case you didn't know...

Mike made his WWE debut alongside his returning wife Maria back at Money in the Bank last year, but it was revealed after just a few weeks on the roster that Vince McMahon was no longer a fan of Kanellis since he wasn't in the shape that he was in when the company first signed him.

Kanellis has since only been used as a talent enhancer on the SmackDown roster as the company has run out of things to do with him and then seemingly removed him from television altogether which included him not even being used for last month's Royal Rumble match.

The heart of the matter

Much of the WWE Universe thought that WWE had given up on the man who was once known as "The Miracle". But Mike recently posted the following Instagram update which shows that WWE is still using him as part of live events and he is definitely putting in the work outside the company.

Mike was part of the recent WWE Live event in Calfornia where he showed off his new abs, which proves that he is now ready to push himself forward and be part of WWE TV. Will Vince McMahon change his mind now and go ahead with the push he once had planned for Kanellis?

What's next?

Mike Kanellis isn't even on SmackDown TV right now so it's unlikely that he will be part of Fastlane in a few weeks time. It will be interesting to see how the new dual-brand events affect many of the stars who are considered jobbers since there will be fewer spaces on the card for them in the future.

Author's take

Kanellis has put in the time and has obviously proven that he is taking his career seriously now. He has a baby on the way and is preparing himself for a huge life change. There is a reason WWE signed him and his wife last year and if he's willing to put in the time then WWE should at least give him the chance to show what he's capable of.
