WWE News: Val Venis details how marijuana helped him overcome painkiller addiction

Venis was one of the more adventurous characters of the Attitude Era

In the most recent edition of his podcast, The Brand, Vince Russo interviewed former WWE Superstar Val Venis. Venis suffered the side effects of a prolonged wrestling career and got addicted to pain killers.

In this podcast, he mentioned how he was able to withdraw his addiction just by smoking marijuana. As reported by wrestlinginc.com, the former Intercontinental Champion candidly spoke about his personal experiences with drugs and alcohol as well. He said :

"The fact that I didn't want to take pills anymore was obviously key to not taking pills anymore. There are some people that want to get off the pills, but once they get through the withdrawals over time they start thinking to themselves, 'I just wanted to get buzzed on a pill tonight', and they wind up going right back down that same path. I think somebody has to actually really want to stop and never want to take them again, in order for marijuana to really work for you.

Due to his personal experience, the veteran wrestler attempts to legalise the use of cannabis, and owns a medical marijuana dispensary called "Health for Life". Venis uses the social pseudonym, the Kaptain.
