What's the story?

On the most recent episode of Monday Night Raw, Roman Reigns said that he was the rightful winner of the steel cage match at the Greatest Royal Rumble, implying that the referee had made the wrong decision.

However, the latest video footage suggests that the right man was ruled the winner.

In case you didn't know...

After a surprise defeat to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 34, Reigns received a steel cage match for the Universal title at the Greatest Royal Rumble. The finish was intended to give Lesnar a controversial victory, but it was poorly executed and resulted in an incredible amount of confusion.

The heart of the matter

When Reigns speared Lesnar through the cage, the referee immediately awarded the bout to the former UFC Heavyweight Champion even though Reigns' feet appeared to hit the floor first. However, the latest video footage reveals that the referee didn't make an error and that one of Reigns' feet was actually on the apron. (Video courtesy of Ringside news)

What's next?

Reigns will face Samoa Joe at Backlash on May 06, 2018. He is expected to finally win the Universal title from Lesnar at the Money in the Bank on June 17, 2018.

Author's take

It is rather unusual that Vince McMahon hasn't given Reigns the Universal title yet as he is still a big proponent of the Big Dog. However, the reality is that the Georgia Tech product still hasn't connected with the audience, unlike Braun Strowman who has all the makings of a bonafide megastar.
