WWE News: Vince McMahon reacts to history being made in Abu Dhabi

This match meant a lot in the grand scheme of things

What's the story?

Something very special happened on Thursday in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Sasha Banks squared off against Alexa Bliss in the first-ever women's match to ever be seen in the incredibly conservative country.

Due to the extra restrictions and no not offend each woman was fully covered with full sleeves and long tights. But the match was still outstanding and a history breaking moment. Vince McMahon commented about the event and he was obviously very proud of the women who represented WWE and continue to forge new paths in the world of entertainment.

In case you didn't know...

Social change isn't as prominent in the UAE in regards to women's rights as it might be in other countries. They keep a very strict culture based on religious beliefs and cultural codes. This is why before Thursday, there wasn't a women's wrestling match in Abu Dhabi, but Banks, Bliss, and WWE set out to change that.

The heart of the matter

Vince McMahon has been a huge supporter of the WWE Women's Revolution with a lot of encouragement from everyone around him. When Banks and Bliss tore the house down by having a match in front of the Abu Dhabi crowd it was way more important than just one match.

Sasha Banks obviously realised this fact as evidenced by her emotional words after the event. The Chairman Of The Board, Vince McMahon commented by saying WWE is all about making moments in time and they did just that in Abu Dhabi with Alexa Bliss and Sasha Banks' encounter.

What's next?

This was a pretty special moment for not just the two women involved but the world as a whole. Perhaps more social change is on the way and women in the UAE could credit this match in some way looking toward a bright future for years to tome.

Author's take

It's moment like this that makes pro wrestling so much more important than simply breaking it down for what it is.

The Abu Dhabi crowd received a huge treat on Thursday night but hopefully, the impression Banks and Bliss made during their confrontation will spill out into the greater consciousness of the beautiful and rich country that is the UAE.
