What’s the story?

WWE superstar The Miz was recently in a conversation with WWE.com and during his interview, the former Intercontinental Champion talked about the highlights of his career so far, including Vince McMahon’s reaction to when Miz won the WWE Championship several years ago.

In case you didn’t know…

In the year 2010, The Miz won the Money in the Bank briefcase and 22nd November 2010, Miz cashed in his MITB briefcase on Randy Orton and pinned “The Viper” to capture the WWE Title. This also meant that Miz became the first ever Tough Enough contestant to win the WWE Title.

Miz would go on and defend the title against the likes of Randy Orton, John Morrison, and even Jerry “The King” Lawler. However, at the 2011 Extreme Rules, pay-per-view Miz lost the title to John Cena in a triple threat steel cage match, which also included John Morrison.

The heart of the matter

During his interview with WWE.com, Miz stated that Vince McMahon was always his biggest supported and saw the talent “The A-Lister” was capable of offering.

The 37-year-old then added that when a superstar first signs with the WWE, then he or she is a fraternity and fans will not get behind the superstar immediately because of him or her being a complete outsider. Miz also claimed that at first even the locker room will not be too friendly and there have been times when one even gets thrown out of the locker room as well. However, Miz additionally said that when Vince McMahon showed his faith on Miz, it solidified everything.

“Vince telling me ‘We’re going with you. I know you can do it,’ solidifies everything. Everything I worked for. It was awesome.”- Miz stated.

What’s next?

The Miz is off WWE television as he is busy shooting for his next movie, The Marine 6. However, upon his TV return, we can expect Miz to invoke his rematch clause for an Intercontinental Title match, which he lost to Shield member Roman Reigns before his absence from WWE TV.

Author’s take

The Miz winning the WWE Title was surely a bold move by the WWE, however, that experiment never really worked for as Miz had one of the poorest runs as WWE Champion.

But, that being said, I do believe that the former IC Champion has improved a lot inside the ring and on the mic as well, and I think Miz is more than ready for the second run as WWE Champion or even Universal Champion.
